I am SO excited to share my transformation of this worn dated Vintage vanity. Do you Remember this old thing?

I knew I wanted to update it’s tired worn look to be Modern, Dramatic and Bold. After seeing this dramatic striking jet black and gold colour combination, I knew she could be transformed into something bold and dramatic!

These vintage waterfall vanities although beautiful in their design have a major design flaw (I feel), their low fronts. It doesn’t allow a chair to be pulled under them. I decided I couldn’t live with this and I set out to find out how I could correct this.

After taking a good look at the construction of the front I came up with a plan to remove the middle drawer and reinstall the front apron.

With the help of my wonderful husband, I was able to correct this design flaw successfully!

Now I was on to her next major issue, the chipping veneer. This was easier then I thought to repair, with a strong putty knife it chipped right off. Leaving behind a little glue residue. I was able to easily sand off the glue residue which left me with a smooth paintable surface 🙂

Now I could finally get to the fun stuff, applying 3 coats of dramatic Jet Black Paint!

I added some beautiful gold metallic highlights, brass handles, a glossy protective top coat and wheels and she was singing again!

Stunning – AND I did it with a dated piece of furniture, a little ingenuity and some elbow grease!

I bet you will never look at a disregarded piece of furniture the same again.

Are you now a up-cycle believer now?
